The Yecheon International Smartphone Film Festival, happening this October in Gyeongbuk’s Yecheon County, has already set a new record with 1,012 submissions from 52 countries. As South Korea’s only international smartphone film festival, it offers a total prize pool of 50 million KRW and features both film and short-form video categories.
This year, the newly introduced short-form category drew significant attention, with many entries reflecting current social trends through impactful content. Judges will review all submissions, with winners announced in late August and showcased online. The festival officially kicks off on October 12 at Yecheon New Town Family Park, where attendees can enjoy an awards ceremony, film screenings, and interactive events.
Last year, the festival received 584 submissions from ten countries. Winning films from that event are available for viewing on the festival’s website and YouTube channel. Festival Chairman Jae-song Jung emphasized the event’s growing international presence and the team’s dedication to fair judging and a well-organized opening ceremony.
