The 49th Jeongseon Arirang Festival

The 49th Jeongseon Arirang Festival, themed “Jeongseon, the Hometown of the Nation,” will be held from October 2 to October 5, 2024, at the Jeongseon Public Stadium. The Jeongseon Arirang Cultural Foundation recently confirmed these dates in their board meeting.

Rich Program Lineup

This year’s festival will feature various traditional cultural performances and programs, including street parades with locals, the Mongsok Arirang, the Jeongseon Arirang Contest, the National A-POP Contest, tug-of-war competitions, circus shows, and fringe stages.

Eco-Friendly Festival

The festival aims to be eco-friendly by reducing the use of single-use items through measures such as eliminating overcharging and promoting the use of reusable containers.

Selected as a Cultural Tourism Festival

The Jeongseon Arirang Festival was selected as a “2024-2025 Cultural Tourism Festival” by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. Chairman Choi Jong-soo emphasized the importance of listening to experts and local residents to ensure a successful festival that instills pride in the community.

High Evaluation and Support

The festival received high marks for its unique content, organizational capabilities, community contribution, and safety management. Over the next two years, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization will provide national funding, promotional support, marketing, and expert consultations. They will also support events to encourage festival visits and promote tourism products to attract foreign tourists.
