The Jecheon International Music & Film Festival (JIMFF), Korea’s only music-focused film festival, will take place from September 5 to 10 in Jecheon, Chungcheongbuk-do. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the festival will showcase 96 films from 16 countries.

The festival will open with “ABBA: The Legend” (2024), directed by James Logan, which tells the story of the world-renowned band ABBA. The closing film will be “A Few Moments of Cheer” (2024), an animated feature centered around music. Other highlights include “Street B Fighter” (2024), a film about a breakdance duo preparing for the Olympics, and “¡Música!” (2023), which follows instrument artisans traveling from New York to repair instruments for students at a music school in Argentina.

This year’s Jecheon Film Music Award will go to Japanese composer Ryo Yoshimata, known in Korea for his work on the original soundtracks of “Between Calm and Passion” and the drama “A Million Stars Falling from the Sky.” Yoshimata will engage with audiences at a talk concert on September 7.

The festival’s popular “One Summer Night” concert series will feature performances by artists such as Kim Pureum, Lee Mujin, and Hyeon Jin-young. These concerts will take place on September 6 and 7 at the Cheongpung Land special stage, with discounted tickets available for residents of Chungcheongbuk-do, Jecheon citizens, and individuals with disabilities.

Additional programs include “Music on Film,” where musicians curate their own stage performances based on films, and the “JIMFF Music Film Market,” a business meeting platform. These events will create a vibrant celebration of film and music.

Jecheon Mayor Kim Chang-gyu emphasized, “The Jecheon International Music & Film Festival has grown into Korea’s premier music film festival. For our 20th anniversary, we’ve prepared an even richer and more diverse program.”
