The Samcheok Hae-rang Film Festival, set for August 30-31 at Samcheok Beach, has attracted 256 film submissions, generating strong local anticipation.

As the festival’s first edition, it aims to spotlight young filmmakers’ talent and boost local tourism and the economy. From the 256 entries, 12 finalists will be selected for screening, with audiences having the chance to engage directly with the filmmakers.

On August 30, the festival will kick off with a performance by Crying Nut and a screening of One Fine Spring Day, followed by a discussion with director Hur Jin-ho and actor Yoo Ji-tae. The top films will compete for awards, with a total prize pool of 5.8 million KRW.

The Samcheok Hae-rang Film Festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of film and community.
