Moonlight Tour Changdeokgung

Changdeokgung Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is renowned for its harmonious blend of natural beauty and palace architecture, often described as the “most Korean” of the palaces. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the “Moonlight Tour at Changdeokgung,” a special event where participants can walk through the palace grounds at night, illuminated by traditional lanterns, and learn about its rich history and culture.

Palace Walk and Historical Experience

The core of the Moonlight Tour is a guided walk through the palace. Starting at Donhwamun Gate, the tour proceeds to Jinseonmun Gate, Injeongjeon Hall, Huijeongdang Hall, Nakseonjae Hall, Sangnyangjeong Pavilion, Buyongji Pond, Bullomun Gate, Aeryeonjeong Pavilion, Yeongyeongdang Hall, and the Secret Garden. Visitors can explore the true essence of Changdeokgung, with highlights including the oldest palace gate, Donhwamun, the throne hall Injeongjeon where official ceremonies were held, and the royal retreat, the Secret Garden.

Cultural Performances and Traditional Tea

The Moonlight Tour also features various cultural performances and experiences. Visitors can enjoy a serene daegeum (bamboo flute) solo at Sangnyangjeong Pavilion, an ajaeng (string instrument) performance at Yeongyeongdang Hall, and traditional tea alongside classical Korean dance performances such as Bakjeopmu and Bosangmu at Yeongyeongdang.
